Harper went to see Santa last night. She knows who Santa is and has been talking about him (Tan-ta) for several weeks, so I didn't think she would have any issues about sitting on his lap. As we stood in line, she was very excited to meet him. She also made friends with the two little girls behind us in line (one of them asked me if Harper had happy feet because she kept dancing around). Finally, we were next in line and Harper's eye's got big. She was smiling and excited to meet the big guy. However, as soon as we stepped onto the red carpet that surrounded his chair, she got very apprehensive about the whole thing. She didn't cry, but she looked a little nervous. By the end of their time together, Harper warmed up to him and we ended up getting a good picture.

Very sweet! I liked how the Santa said "I love you Harper."
At first I thought the "I love you" thing was a little weird, but after I watched the video again, I noticed Harper shook her head yes after he said it. So, now I'm ok with it because I like that Harper acknowledges that Santa loves her.
Actually, the Santa was a really nice guy - not weird at all. He probably spent 5 mins with each kid (which meant that we had to stand in line longer, but I think it made the kids feel special).
I was weirded out by the "I love you Harper" thing..... but then I thought "Hey, if the guy didn't love all the kids of the world, Why would he bring them each gifts?" He obviously has to love each kid, but I am pretty sure Harper was his favorite, because let's be honest.... Who in their right mind wouldn't love Harper?
She looks so serious in the picture, and tiny! Sweet little face she has.
Her posture in the beginning was cracking me up, all stiff and uncertain!
Clearly he had been practicing his 'ho, ho, ho' for a long time. He was pretty darn good at it.

I don't know...personally I think Harper seems a little skeptical of the man in the big red suit. She's thinking about the quantum physics of his "all the houses in the world in one night" guarantee.
