Kid 1, Pink Eye 0

Well, Harper seems to be over her bout with pink eye. Do you know what an impossible task it is to get two drops of medicine per eye into a baby's eye? It's ridiculously difficult - even with 2 parents vs. 1 kid. I think that the whole eye drop thing was much more bothersome to her than the actual pink eye (save perhaps the fact that her eyes were glued shut on Saturday morning when she woke up). Anyway...I'm happy to report that she is all better (except for the kennel cough that she picked up last week) and back at baby school. And, Rob and I don't have any signs of the pink death (sorry to disappoint those of you who entered the pool as to which one of us would get it first). Harper was actually really excited to be back at baby school this morning. She likes it there - which is good for me because her recent string of baby school induced illnesses has given me a major guilt trip.

New T-Shirt Idea

You've all seen the "My Grandma Went To Florida And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" shirts, right? Well, here's Harper's version.

Yep. It's true. Can you believe it? What's next???

Science Friday - Cornstarch Goo Edition

Cornstarch Goo is awesome. If you have never experimented with this stuff, you should. And if you have some kiddos at home, you definitely should! Tonight. If not sooner. All you need to do is mix some cornstarch with water until you get the consistency of pancake batter. (You could even get crafty and throw in some green food coloring for St. Patrick's Day.) The video below was featured on NPR's Science Friday (the real Science Friday, not my cheap rip off). I love how scientists just have this burning desire to explain things. Everything. Including Cornstarch Goo. Ahhh scientists - gotta love 'em.

Brushing Harper's Teeth

Harper has 7 little teeth now so it's time to start teaching her how to brush them. Basically, she holds a toothbrush while I brush her teeth and then she tries it. It's actually working really well. This is only our second attempt and she's getting the hang of it already.

Germ Bag

This sweet little baby is a germ bag. She picks up a bug at Baby School (what we call daycare), incubates it, strengthens it, and then gives it to me. I feel like crap today. I puked my guts out last night and could probably do so right now if I weren't at work. And NO, I am not pregnant (you can stop right there - you know who you are).

I can't be too upset with her though. She's under the weather herself. She has a fever and a little rash - probably just a reaction to the MMR vaccine she got last week. It's pretty common, but it stinks for her nonetheless. Supposedly, it's not contagious, but we kept Typhoid Mary home from Baby School today just in case.

Spring Has Sprung

Harper and I had a great day on Saturday. The weather was so nice that we decided to round up some friends and go to the park.

She loved feeing the wind in her face.

Several of the pictures I took look like this. She just couldn't stay still!

After the park, we went out for dinner. Harper entertained the other diners while we waited for our pizza.

And The Winner Is...

Using the random number generator from Random.org, the winner was #11 Laurie Cooper:

"UE and I have discussed this. (And I'm talking about when it gets up over $100 million.) We'd pay off the homes of all our families and close friends. We'd give enough to the church to be able to fund a FULLY staffed children and family minitry (but not so much that volunteers wouldn't be necessary). Then we'd build an academy for underpriveliged children that would employ all family and friends who wanted to work there to teach, coach, mentor, and spiritually guide a new generation of upright and Christian citizens. Yeah, sounds like a Miss America speach but 100% true! I can think of nothing I'd rather do!"

Laurie, your Starbucks gift card is on it's way. Thanks to everyone who entered. This was so much fun, I think I'll have a contest every month!
