Happy Easter

Another great day filled with lots of baby torture (ie. making Harper wear silly things on her head), encounters with large rabbits, pretty flowers, and sunshine.

This afternoon, Pap, Harper, and I went to Washington Oaks Gardens. 
She was very interested in all of the informational plaques and pointed each one out. 
She was only mildly interested in all of the pretty flowers. I made up for her lack of interest. I'm convinced that Florida has some of the most interesting foliage on the planet. 

Miscelaineous Music - April Edition

I know it's been a long time since the last installment of Miscelaineous Music, but tonight I was reminded of one of my all time favorite pieces of music - the Elgar cello concerto. This piece helped me fall in love with my husband. I know most of you don't regularly listen to classical music, but take the time to listen to this one. It's really that good and Yo Yo Ma isn't half bad either. I was actually only going to post a video of the 1st movement but, this piece is written so that one movement seamlessly transitions into the next one. So, basically if I were you, I would just take about 45 mins and listen to all 4 movements back to back. At least (as a personal favor to me) listen to the 1st and 3rd movements. Ok, guilt trip over. Happy Listening and Happy Easter. 

Florida Day 2

Harper woke me up in a new way this morning. Instead of fussing, she sweetly said "Mama, ba-ba. Mama, ba-ba." Translation = Mom, I know we are technically on vacation, but it's 6:30 and I would like my bottle now. A nice way to start the morning of a really great day.

Florida Day 1

Just a quick update before I hit the sac:

• Great flight yesterday - I think I still have the best kid in the world. I was beginning to wonder lately, but she was so good on the plane that I am sure that she's still the best. 
• We've been in Florida for a little over 24 hours now and I already have weird sunburn lines from my watch and t-shirt. Did I mention that I burn like a match?
• My parents were pretty strict when I was growing up. Not in a bad or mean way - they just had high expectations of me. Now that they are grandparents, they take pleasure in encouraging Harper to do things that I don't normally let her do (like letting her eat ice cream before bed) and make fun of me for being too rigid with her. Oh how the tables have turned...

Florida Here We Come

In just a few short hours, we will be on a plane headed to Florida. Can't wait. I'm sure there will be some travel stories to tell (although no puking cats this time). Check back in the next few days for the update. 

Tuesday Thoughts

A couple random thoughts for today:

1. I stink at blowing bubbles. Harper loves bubbles. I'm practicing. 

2. I have yard envy. I miss having a yard. Harper would sooooo love a big yard to play in. We sooooo need to sell our house in Cincinnati so that we can buy one here and get a yard. 

3. Swings are fun.

 

Easter Egg Hunt 2009

You know what's great about having a kid? Holidays are fun again. On Saturday, Harper took part in her first Easter Egg Hunt. It was held at our friends' house and it was wonderful. Our friends have been hosing this annual egg hunt for about 30 years now. People who participated when they were children are now bringing their children to take part - talk about the gift of community! Penny and Steve - thank you for your generosity and for the great memories that we made. We're already looking forward to (and strategizing for) next year!
